3 bumps up mobile broadband caps for business

3 is raising the stakes in the fast-moving mobile broadband market by bumping business data caps to 15GB - the largest in the UK.

The network's 15GB a month package will cost £30 per month, for those willing to sign an 18-month contract.

3 is also offering a 5GB deal for £15 per month. Businesses can buy a second mobile broadband package for half the price.

Interestingly, the USB modem is chucked in for free, unless you opt for the Huawei E169 Stick, which costs £10 up front. "Typical downlink rates would tend to be about 30-50% higher than with the E160G," says a spokesman for 3, explaining the pricing disparity.

Until now, T-Mobile's 10GB package held the record for most generous data cap. Yet, the networks are currently engaged in a constant battle of one-upmanship.

Earlier today, Virgin Media announced it was bundling mobile broadband with cable connections for only £5 per month. And last month, BT began offering mobile broadband as a "free" add-on for people on its business broadband tariffs.
