"World's largest" range of business laptops launched

Toshiba today launched what it claims is the "largest range of business notebooks in the world", all of which will include embedded 3G modems. The range is based around four new chassis: three new Portégé laptops, plus one new Tecra.
"Design-wise the Portege R600 is pretty close to the R500," said Thomas Teckentrup, general manager of Toshiba's Computer Systems Division, EMEA, "but this product now has a completely redesigned magnesium chassis which is much more durable. So it's far more durable when it falls to the ground, for example."
Then there's the Portege A600. "You could call this the smaller, bigger brother of the R600," explained Teckentrup. "It's a little bigger than the R600, but what's really important to note is the price - it's a much more affordable alternative, the perfect tool for a mobile workforce."
The final new notebook in Toshiba's Portege range is the M750. "A tablet PC, it's the sucesssor of the M700. It's primarily designed for vertical markets, with the pen technology appreciated by healthcare, logistics and creative professionals. The M700 has also been very successful in education markets, and we're adding touch technology so just with the tip of your finger you're able to use applications."
And according to Teckentrup, the one new Tecra, the R10, is last but not least. "We are proud of this product. One reason for that is that this is a product designed for senior managers. Quality and durability has always been a high priority, but this is the most durable product Toshiba has ever developed."
We'll be bringing first looks of the new laptops during the day, plus Toshiba's new netbook, the NB105.
