Free update to Norton Internet Security 2007
Posted on 16 Nov 2006 at 13:14
In our review of Norton Internet Security 2007 in the latest edition of PC Pro (see issue 147, p85), we mentioned that existing users of Norton Internet Security 2006 were entitled to a free upgrade. However, this offer isn't clear from the main Symantec website, so we want to explain how to obtain the upgrade.
First, we should clarify that the upgrade offer is open to subscribers only. Here is the full text of the email Symantec sent us:
"Symantec is pleased to confirm that Norton Internet Security 2006 customers with a valid subscription are now eligible to receive the latest product features available with Norton Internet Security 2007 through the Norton Update Centre. This update centre has been designed to provide eligible customers on the 2006 versions of Norton Internet Security and Norton Antivirus products with the latest feature updates at no additional cost as a part of their subscription service."
To check if you can take advantage of this upgrade, please visit the Norton Update Centre. Note that you will need to use Internet Explorer 5.5 or above.
