National Statistics have published figures for Internet connectivity in October, revealing that broadband connections now account for more than 1 in 5.
Overall connections are rising, up 1.2 per cent month on month and up 5.6 per cent year on year.
However, dial-up connections continue to experience the fall out as the exodus to broadband continues apace. Dial-up subscriptions fell nearly 7 per cent year on year, while broadband connections rose 7 per cent month on month. The yearly growth figure for broadband connections is nearly 125 per cent.
The figures reveal that broadband connections now make up 20.4 per cent of all net connections, up from 19.3 per cent in September.
National Statistics puts the bullish broadband rise down to 'continued marketing drive and increase in availability of broadband services'.
