BT’s broadband network is recovering from another major network outage in “multiple areas”.

Parts of the southeast of the country – and particularly London – were left without services, with the company forced to apologise to customers for the second outage in weeks.

“We're really sorry, but we've got a problem at the moment affecting our broadband service, which means that some of our customers will be having trouble getting online. We're trying to fix the problem as quickly as we can,” the company said on its status page.

The company said services were coming back online ahead of the 3pm estimated time of repair, and advised customers to reset their routers if problems persisted.

“Sorry if you weren't able to access BT Broadband in or near London earlier, it’s fixed now - you may need to restart your hub to connect,” the company said on Twitter, admitting to PC Pro that the problem probably extended out "into the Home Counties".

Unhappy punters

Despite the resumption of service, customers were quick to vent their frustration over the situation and complain about the lack of information on help lines.

"BT Broadband still down in London. No response from BT Support, gave up after holding for 34 minutes. Very poor service," said Kevin Wallis-Eade on Twitter.

Erm ...

.
"Sorry if you weren't able to access BT Broadband in or near London earlier, it’s fixed now - you may need to restart your hub to connect,” the company said on Twitter"

So anyone who can't get onto the internet is being told that they may need to restart their hub.

On the internet.

Someone didn't really think that through.
