TalkTalk targets "digital extroverts" with Pro broadband

TalkTalk has launched a new "high performance" broadband package that offers up to 24Mbits/sec connections for £15 per month.
TalkTalk, which made its name as the company that gave broadband connections away for "free", is clearly looking to target the more demanding broadband user. Indeed, the company claims the new package is aimed at the 1.5 million adults its research identified as "digital extroverts" - early adopters for whom the internet is an "essential" part of their lives.

The Pro package offers up to 24Mbits/sec connections on TalkTalk's Local Loop Unbundled (LLU) network. There is no monthly download limit, although it is subject to the ISP's "fair-use policy" which deals with "excessive downloaders on a case-by-case basis," according to a TalkTalk spokesman.
Pro subscribers will be given a free 802.11n wireless router, and free UK calls to numbers starting with 01, 02, 03, 0845 or 0870.
Customers are required to sign an 18-month contract, and there's an additional £11.25 per month line rental charge, bringing the total cost of the package up to £26.25 per month.
TalkTalk claims the Pro package is at least £150 cheaper than comparable deals from rivals BT, Virgin Media or Sky, although no two packages are directly comparable due to varying speeds and the additional extras (such as security software) provided by different ISPs.
