O2 offers joint mobile and home broadband
Posted on 31 Jul 2008 at 10:41
O2 is offering a combined broadband package which offers a 3G mobile dongle and a home landline connection of "up to 8MB" for £20 per month.
The service includes a free USB modem with a 3GB monthly data allowance and "unlimited" (subject to fair-sue policy) Wi-Fi via The Cloud network. The landline connection will offer "unlimited" (again, subject to a fair-use policy) downloads and a free Wi-Fi router.
The package represents much better value than previous offerings from the supplier. Previously the mobile broadband connection alone cost £20, the same price as the new joint deal.
"Whether our customers are watching a video or playing a game online at home, or browsing the internet on their laptop while on the move, our combined broadband package is the perfect combination to help them stay connected wherever they are," says Sally Cowdry, marketing director of O2 UK.
The company has also announced a new way for customers to setup a broadband connection which doesn't involve a day off work, waiting hours at home for a technician to simply drop off a router.
The O2 Home Broadband Takeaway box can be bought in shops and contains everything needed to get started, including a router, filters and Ethernet cable.
The box costs £30, but the price will be deducted from monthly bills once the connection is set up.
Sally Cowdry commented: "Customers told us that they wanted the flexibility to set up broadband in their own time. O2 Home Broadband Takeaway enables this, so they can take a tangible product home and benefit from an unparalleled buying experience for broadband in store."
