Music label accepts demos online 11:59AM, Tuesday 24th October 2006
Parlophone has become the first major UK record label to introduce an online demo submission system.

A&R Tools lets artists upload mp3s and publicity pictures to Parlophone's A&R team. The system records everything the team has reviewed and allows them to rate tracks and artists, who are automatically informed once their tracks have been reviewed.

The system had been used for a while by a number of independent labels before it came to the attention of Parlophone's head of A&R, Nigel Coxon.

'One of our top priorities in A&R is to keep our talent spotting process as efficient and up to date as possible,' he said. 'This new system allows us to do just that, while at the same time helping us stay committed to giving anyone the opportunity to be heard.'

Parlophone, a division of EMI, currently directs those artists who contact them to submit their demos via the system.
