Skype announces v2.6 preview 12:18PM, Thursday 10th August 2006
Skype has announced a preview of version 2.6 of its Internet comms software for Windows.

The main events for 2.6 are the addition of new sound audio libraries and the ability to automatically recognise phone numbers in Web pages (and subsequently start a Skype call) via a browser plug in.

Skype has also updated its API and enhanced the functionality of its avatar and mood messaging.

Other changes are mainly composed of bug fixes to localisation, video and conference call features.

The company warns that no support is given for the preview, and that no warranties are given on the stability of the build at any given point. However, Skype is looking for feedback and the identification of any further issues.

It is downloadable from the Skype website.
