US Trade Commission investigates Creative iPod dispute 5:10PM, Wednesday 14th June 2006
The US International Trade Commission (ITC) has begun an investigation of claims that the iPod breaches a patent owned by Creative Technology.

Creative filed a lawsuit last month that alleges that Apple's digital music player infringes its 'Zen' user interface patent for portable players.

The Singapore-based company has asked that the ITC issue a permanent exclusion order and a permanent cease and desist order against Apple.

Apple responded to Creative's lawsuit with two if its own. First it claimed that Creative had infringed four Apple patents pertaining to portable music players before issuing a second claim of breaches of three patents covering the displaying of data on a computer, editing data using a portable media device, and the creation of icons to organise files on a computer.
