Theft victim chats up thief 1:11PM, Thursday 8th June 2006
A mix of dim and sharp wits and Net chat software helped a theft victim recover a stolen laptop.

According to a Skype blog, one user had a laptop stolen on which Skype had been installed and configured to start automatically when booting.

The victim downloaded Skype and set up another account which they then used to make contact with the new 'owner' of the laptop.

It turns out the pair had enough in common to start a friendship that blossomed into arranging a face to face meeting.

Said the victim: 'We set up a meeting, and I went with the police and caught the guy.'
