Yahoo! overhauls Mail interface 10:56AM, Thursday 16th March 2006
Yahoo! is hailing its updated webmail service as 'the most significant enhancement to the Yahoo! Mail interface and user experience since its launch in 1997'.

While the service remains browser-based, the emphasis is on a desktop-like experience, with the ability to set up folders, drag and drop items and fast search services.

It's de rigeur to support RSS these days, and Yahoo! Mail adds that into the mix too.

You can compose and view multiple emails at the same time, automate mail checks, use autocomplete features to save time and the service boasts antivirus and antispam features to boot.

'This beta gives people a faster and more dynamic way to experience Yahoo! Mail, yet continues to offer the same features they rely upon today: great anti-spam and virus protection, tons of storage, it's all there,' said Eileen Broch, Director of Communications Products UK & Europe.

The Yahoo! Mail Beta will also be rolled out to all BT Broadbandcustomers over the coming months from mid March.
