Google launches mini Mini 11:51AM, Friday 3rd March 2006
Google has a new Mini. Its range of hardware search appliances - Google in a box - gets a new entry-level model, aimed at smaller businesses

Costing £700 with one year of support, the smallest Mini searches up to 50,000 documents. Others in the range already have 100,000, 200,000 and 300,000 document capacities. Ironically, the Mini originally launched in this capacity, but this was superseded by the larger versions.

The Google Mini made its debut in January 2005, but only became available in the UK in May 2005. The units are complete PCs with operating systems and the Google search software built-in, which can be used as a search tool by organisations either internally or externally. The devices can index a large range of documents including HTML, text and PDF files.

The Minis are available via the Google UK store.
