Rhapsody tunes up for Mac and Linux users 3:17PM, Monday 5th December 2005
RealNetworks is to extend its Rhapsody.com US music subscription service to Mac and Linux users, offering unlimited access to its entire one million plus music catalogue just as long for a monthly fee.

However unlike Windows users of the services, Mac and Linux subscribers will not be able to buy songs or transfer music to a portable player. Instead they will be restricted to streaming music via their Web browser.

'We are not talking about dates when we would deliver the full client,' said Katim Meghji, RealNetwork's vice president of Music Services. 'As we take this step to deliver Rhapsody to more platforms, we will listen to what customers have to say and have that partially guide us to where we will go.'

Real said earlier this year that it plans to launch in Japan, but has not given any indication whether it will spread to Europe.
