And he clearly doubts that CA's offer would pass muster. 'This donation is a cheap publicity stunt, and nothing more. Which is why it will probably impress many in the open source world,' he said.
Jones however insists that the donation is much more than a good news story for CA. 'From a legal perspective, this is not PR. It's a real and realistic attempt to set up a safety zone, where Microsoft and its ilk will be unable to use patent infringement lawsuits as an anticompetitive weapon.'
