A new awards ceremony is being planned to honour women who have made outstanding contributions to technology. The awards are being organised by the women's networking group Aurora and sponsored by RIM, the company behind the must-have technology for upwardly mobile geeks, the Blackberry.
The BlackBerry Women & Technology Awards 2005 will be presented 27 October at the Riverbank Plaza Hotel in London.
Among the awards planned are, Best woman in technology in the private and public sector, Best female mentor in technology, Best company for advancing women and the 2005 Woman and Technology Award.
Glenda Stone the CEO of Aurora said, 'Technology is a great enabler for women's businesses and career growth. It is therefore important that women are recognised for their development and innovative use of technology.'
The judges include nominees from BlackBerry, Aurora, the award sponsors including O2 and HSBC, industry leaders and the business press.
