The range uses the ITX-e extended case, which offers the same sleek design credentials as other media kit in the living room.

DVD movies - it won't be up to the latest games at top performance. The graphics capabilities are built in, in the form of Intel's Extreme Graphics engine, as well as Intel Dynamic Video Memory. Nor does there appear to be the option of adding in a third-party card.

Still, in other respects it holds its own. One DDR DIMM socket supports up to 1GB DDR200/266/333 DDR SDRAM. There is also 10/100 Base T Ethernet LAN / Gigabit LAN controller, 5.1 audio, TV out, and up to six USB 2.0 ports. Two 3in or 2.5in hard disks can be fitted with a capacity of up to 400GB and 120GB respectively.

It runs Microsoft's Windows Media Center Edition 2005 and also comes with a remote control.

The basic set up - with an Intel 1.4GHz Celeron M processor, 512 MB RAM, 160 GB hard disk drive and a slim-line DVD ROM - costs £1,087.98 inc VAT.
