Display companies gather at FPD Taiwan 2005 11:10AM, Wednesday 8th June 2005
Display companies are offering a variety of display technologies and samples of their new products at FPD Taiwan 2005, running 8 Jun - 10 Jun.

As with past events, AU Optronics (AUO) has decorated the front of its booth with a TV wall consisting of several large-size LCD TV panels (two 46-inch, two 32-inch and two 26-inch LCD TV panels). It is also showing a 46-inch high-definition TV (HDTV) panel.

In addition, it is also highlighting a breakthrough in display technology for response time: 4ms response time made available using GFI Technology.

The company's GFI Technology is a CRT-like impulse type display that reduces image residue and improves motion picture quality, according to AUO. AUO estimates the technology will be implemented starting in the third quarter of this year.

Chi Mei Optoelectronics (CMO) is displaying a 42-inch HDTV panel (pictured), which just received the 'Outstanding Photonics Award' from event organizer Photonics Industry & Technology Development Association (PIDA).

Chunghwa Picture Tubes (CPT) and HannStar Display are also showing a variety of PDP TV panels and LCD TV panels, respectively.

Corning, the largest worldwide glass substrate maker, is showing a seventh-generation (7G) (1,870×2,200mm) glass substrates.
