In move that is considered not unconnected to the launch this week of the Pentium 64, AMD has sought to remind the world that it already has a 64-bit processor range and that it is still one step ahead of Intel.
This week, the company demonstrated a dual core Athlon 64 processor at its Sunnyvale, California development facility.
AMD has meanwhile confirmed that it plans to launch multi-core AMD64 client processors later this year. It also emphasised that it will
continue develop and market single-core AMD Athlon 64 and AMD Athlon 64 FX processors in the near term.
