AOL doubles bandwidth for free 3:54PM, Monday 7th February 2005
AOL is to double the bandwidth for each of its broadband packages from 14 February.

The line speed of the AOL Broadband Silver service costing £17.99 a month will increase to 512Kbit. Likewise the Gold service at £24.99 will go to a 1Mbit service whilst the top of the range Platinum service will go to 2Mbit and cost £29.99.

AOL says that the new structure will apply to all new customers. Existing customers will be upgraded 'as quickly as possible'.

CEO Karen Thompson says 'With the addition of 2Mbps services, consumers will be able to take full advantage of new content and services, such as video on demand, which will become available over the next year.'

AOL's broadband packages are uncapped.
