AMD has released the Mobile AMD Sempron processor 3000+ 'for Thin and Light Notebooks'. The low-power processor is aimed at entry-level notebooks, as opposed to the 3000+ Mobile AMD Sempron Processor for Full-Size Notebooks.

As with other Semprons, features include 802.11a, b and g wireless networking, support for Microsoft's Data Execution Prevention in Windows XP Service Pack 2 (the defence against buffer overflow attacks) and AMD's PowerNow! battery management.

Available immediately worldwide, the Mobile AMD Sempron processor 3000+ is priced at $134, based on 1,000-unit quantities.

The Packard Bell EasyNote E6 notebook is expected to be one of the first notebooks to carry the new processor, within a few weeks.

Launched in July 2004 - AMD introduces Sempron range of value processors - the Sempron range is aimed at entry-level and value notebooks and desktops, replacing the previous Duron range.
