Intel and ATi technology underpin the first two product releases in Abit's Fatal1ty range: the Fatal1ty AA8XE (based on the Intel 925XE chipset) and the X700XT Fatal1ty graphics card (based on the ATI X700XT VPU).

Described by Abit as the 'ultimate' gaming platform for Intel machines, and incorporating latest features such as DDR2 and PCI Express, the Fatal1ty brand is named after pro gamer Johnathan 'Fatal1ty' Wendel.

With an eye on the modding market, the components are coloured red and black, and red LED backlights are designed to bathe the motherboard in a crimson glow...

The AA8XE also comes with five cooling systems and Abit's Guru technology, which incorporates OC Guru overclocking support, Abit EQ hardware monitoring, FlashMenu 1-click BIOS updating and BlackBox diagnostic technology. For network connectivity, there is 10/100 LAN and Gigabit LAN, and audio support comes in the form of 7.1 channel high-definition audio, via a separate daughter card, and Dolby Digital Live support.

As for the graphics card, being based on the ATI Radeon X700XT VPU, the Fatal1ty X700XT features 8 extreme parallel pixel pipelines and 6 programmable vertex shader pipelines, and it clocks 475Mhz, not forgetting a PCI Express interface.

UK pricing has not yet been officially announced.

Note, however, that the first samples of the Fatal1ty AA8 will not be available until mid-November, with the Fatal1ty X700XT following after that.
