Sony makes DVD burners Mac-friendly and faster 5:16PM, Tuesday 26th October 2004
Sony has made its 710 Series double-layer DVD burner Mac-compatible, via a firmware upgrade.

But it is not just Mac users who benefit from the new updates. Another upgrade also increases single layer DVD-R burning from 8x to 12x, and the DVD+R DL burn speed can be boosted from 2.4x to a full 4x.

'This is an important development for the 710 Series,' says Sharon Garner, Product Manager for Sony Optical Storage Products. 'We are very pleased to be able to offer the DRX-710UL drive to Mac users for the first time, as we believe that they will appreciate the quality, performance and style embodied in the range.'

To be precise, the DRX-710UL will be Mac compatible for OS X version 10.2 or later.
