US business website Forbes.com reports that, 'Sources close to the group say the U2 edition of the popular digital music player will come preloaded with the band's new album, How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb, along with portions of the Irish supergroup's 25-year catalogue. The iPods will be black.'
The colour (or lack of colour) alone could be enough to win over new customers, as a glance though the forums on this website will testify. U2's album will doubtless pull in many more.
Apple and U2 have become very close in recent weeks, with the band's latest single Vertigo available exclusively on the iTunes Music Store and featuring in an iPod ad. Vertigo has remained top of iTunes' chart for the three weeks since it as released and is number one in the UK Downloads Chart. As part of the iPod deal, says Forbes, Apple will also get exclusive rights to the band's new album for a few weeks.
