The latest version of Microsoft's Media Player software makes its European debut today.
Windows Media Player 10 is available from Microsoft's website and will hook into online music services from MSN Music, Napster and Tiscali, among others.
Version 10 includes software to rip music to MP3 as well as WMA and includes the latest versions of Microsoft's video and audio codecs for efficiently encoding and decoding media.
It also synchronises with more than 70 digital music players that support its Digital Rights Management technologies and audio formats.
Anyone with one of the Portable Media Centers will need Windows Media Player 10 to transfer files to and from the device.
A mobile version of the player also launches today, debuting in Dell's Axim X50 wireless handheld from early November.
