Microsoft boss says 'stolen' is most common iPod format
11:20AM, Monday 4th October 2004
Microsoft's CEO Steve Ballmer indirectly labelled iPod users as 'thieves' during a recent meeting in London.
Silicon.com reports that Ballmer said, 'We've had DRM in Windows for years. The most common format of music on an iPod is "stolen",' presumably referring to music downloaded with peer-to-peer file sharing software.
Ballmer said that Microsoft is working to make its DRM 'harder to crack, and easier, easier, easier, easier, to use'.
