What piece of computing technology would you most like to get your hands on this Christmas? Here is the wish-list of another of the writers you've seen in the News section this year - online editor Alun Williams.
Bought this year...
For the last few years, I have been wishing for a laptop. Well, the purchase was finally made this September - a lovely little Centrino machine, a Samsung X05 1400, is now in my possesion. Weighing 2Kg, with a 14in screen, a CR-RW/DVD-ROM drive and lots of connectivity, it is now faithfully helping with my evening course work. It is slightly heavier than an MP3 player (all my CDs are loaded up) and a tad more costly than a DVD player, but it's a powerful and portable machine. I love it!
In its wake have come other acquisitions, too, including a Canon CanoScan 3000F and a very stylish M101 mini optical mouse from BenQ.
Wishing for...
I still have my eye on... better speakers, for use with the laptop at home. No 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound, you understand - I want something a bit more basic than an 'immersive audio, home entertainment experience', I just want to hear Led Zeppelin in all their 20-minute-guitar-solo glory!
A laptop 'Lapstation' from Intrigo - as recently featured on the Red Ferret Journal (and showcased at the New York Museum of Modern Art) - would also be a fine acquisition...
