Lindows has announced its latest version of the GNU/Linux operating system - 4.5 - which incorporates free computer to computer voice calls.
Announced yesterday, the platform offers Session Initiation Protocol (SIP)-based voice calls to any other SIP-enabled device. Each Lindows-based machine is also allocated its own 'phone' number and other features include four-way conference calls.
Also new in 4.5 are an integrated search facility and a translation engine that can translate web content on the fly into six different languages.
In order to attract the Linux novice, the new version also incorporates multimedia tutorials and remote desktop sharing that allows remote tech support.
Also on offer is extended hardware support as well as the latest version of OpenOffice.org's office suite.
It's $59.95 from Lindows.com.
