One for modders. FPS has released its Silent Solution Kit for the quiet cooling of Intel and AMD-based systems.
The kits address the problem of high-specced computers that generate a lot of heat and thus require a lot of cooling. With the use of standard fans, this can raise a problem of noise
'The total solution for a quieter computer,' is how FPS dubs the systems and they are compatible with an Intel Pentium 4 (Socket 478) or AMD Athlon/Duron/Athlon XP (Socket 462) systems. A kit includes an FPS power supply, CPU cooler and a system fan, and the Taiwanese-based FSP Group claims that the kit works at less than 35 dB at full load.
The Intel (300W) Silent Solution Kit is priced at £58.70 and is available from PC World.
A separate AMD (350W) Silent Solution Kit is promised for early next year.
