Java Today reports that Sun has published version 1.4 of its Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition SDK (software development kit), i.e. J2EE 1.4.
As well as the J2EE 1.4 application server and development tools, the SDK includes tutorials and Java BluePrints (official guidelines and sample code). The idea is to provide, in Sun's words, 'everything a developer needs to get started using the J2EE 1.4 platform'.
J2EE 1.4 represents 'the most complete Web services platform ever', boasts Sun. New in this version is the J2EE Management 1.0 API, the J2EE Deployment 1.1 API, security features through the use of Java Authorization Contract for Containers (JavaACC), and simplified Java Servlet and JavaServer Pages technologies for developing Web front ends.
You can download the SDK from the java.sun.com website. Supported operating systems are Solaris, Windows and Linux Redhat v8.0.
