Microsoft to launch Office System tomorrow

Tomorrow sees the much-heralded release of Microsoft's new Office productivity software, which has been rebranded under the 'Office System' banner.

New elements of the suite include OneNote (the note management program) and InfoPath (a form-based information gathering program), and the main benefits trumpeted include fuller support for generating XML equivalents of Office formats and the integration of enterprise instant messaging, but full coverage of the vast suite, in its various editions and packages, will appear tomorrow.

It replaces Office XP, which was launched more than two years ago, in May 2001.

While the global launch event will be taking place in New York, with Bill Gates presenting the new software, the UK equivalent is taking place at the Victoria Park Plaza Hotel in London.

As well as coverage on the site tomorrow, look out for the new issues of PC Pro, Computer Shopper and Computer Buyer, which will be investigating in depth the new productivity software.
