Sun moves to simplify Java access
Posted on 9 Oct 2003 at 13:06
Sun has tried to simplify the life of Java developers. Specifically, there is new Web-based programme to ease the development effort involved in updating and upgrading existing Java applications.
The website - java.sun.com/upgrade - will contain articles, upgrade guides, support forums, and diagnostic tools.
It comes in the wake of yesterday's agreement with Microsoft, over extending the official shelf life of Microsoft's JVM - its Windows-specific interpreter for Java programs.
It was only back in June, however, that Sun previously announced a streamlining of its Web-based Java offerings - Sun breathes on Java logo and creates new Java portals
The introduction of Java.com (which was intended to bring some order to the soup of Java developer-related suites) and Java.net (promoting the range of consumer products and companies using Java technologies) was accompanied by an updating of its Java coffee cup logo.
