Adobe has released a new version of Photoshop Album its software for managing, editing and sharing digital images.

The software is designed to make organising and sharing digital images as easy as possible. Once installed it automatically scans your computer and creates a catalogue of all the images you have stored. These can then be sorted by date, or gathered into Collections.

There are tools for basic image editing, such as removing red eye, and for creating Web galleries or ordering prints through online developing services. Images can also be burnt direct to CD or DVD.

Adobe has also added several new features, including image filters to instantly create sepia or black and white images. It also lets you send you pictures direct to a Palm OS handheld or a mobile phone.

Photoshop Album 2.0 costs £41.13 (inc. VAT); further details from www.adobe.co.uk/photoshopalbum.

UPDATE: Adobe has made a free Starter Edition available at www.adobe.com/support/downloads. The 5.6MB download contains most of the organisational features of the full version, but has limited file format support (BMP, JPEG, or TIFF only), limited export and sharing options and no support for direct CD and DVD burning,
