Intel is expected to slash the pricing of its Centrino Pentium M processor over the weekend, by as much as a third.

While the top-of-the-range 1.7GHz model would be reduced from $637 to $423 (33 per cent), the new low-end 1.4GHz would fall from $241 to $209. The 1.6 and 1.5GHz models could see cuts of 30 and 18 per cent repsectively.

Intel is also expected to cut the price of other mobile processors at a later date. Specifically, mobile Pentium 4 processors falling in price by 14-35 per cent. But this is expected to happen later in the month, on 26 October.
