Kaspersky Labs snaps up Reliable Anti Virus team 11:10AM, Friday 26th September 2003
Anti virus specialists Kaspersky Labs has hired the Unix/Linux specialists from Reliable Anti Virus (RAV), the company bought by Microsoft back in June.

Microsoft bought RAV in order to integrate its technology into future versions of Windows. However, the RAV product line included software for a number of other operating systems including Linux and Unix which Microsoft didn't want. Kaspersky has hired the former RAV Unix/Linux development team members and several of the management team en masse.

Their first task will be to develop a migration strategy for former RAV Unix/Linux customers who are currently without updates or technical support. Kaspersky says it will be offering these former RAV customers a free migration to its own range of anti-virus products.
