As previously reported on DigiTimes, Intel is expected to cut prices for its budget desktop Celeron processor over the weekend according to Taiwanese sources.
Motherboard makers are also anticipating the arrival of a 2.7GHz Celeron by 'late in the third quarter'. The 2.6 and 2.5GHz models appeared in June - Celerons keep on climbing.
The Celeron development was reported as one reason motherboard makers have been optimistic about third-quarter sales, along with strong demand for 800MHz FSB (front-side bus) Pentium 4 processors.
