SCO announces new products for SCOx Initiative

SCO has released the first set of products surrounding its web services project which was announced in April under the name of SCOx Initiative.

The company has announced a number of new products including the SCOx WebFace development environment, Ericom PowerTerm Host Publisher and the SCOsms Web Services and SCObiz Web Services APIs.

SCOx is a technology framework, aimed at the development and delivery of inter and intranet applications. It is based on SCO's existing products such as UnixWare and OpenServer and is said to work with industry standards such as XML and SOAP.

The company says that the new framework offers multi-window interoperability, a monthly calendar, stylesheets, date picker, cacheable windows, enhanced grid functionality, multiple browser window support and button-triggered task execution. The product is also said to be interoperable with other web services offerings such as Microsoft's .NET.

Naturally there is web services support and toolkits aimed at SCO OpenServer and UnixWare. These include updates for Apache and Tomcat, XML parsers and toolkits for SOAP programming in C/C++, Java, PHP and Perl.

In a separate announcement SCO has announced UnixWare Office Mail Server 2.0. the new version is said to offer greater support for Microsoft Outlook by offering the ability to share email, calendars, discussion groups, address books. The product also supports Eurora and Netscape Mail.
