The fourth annual Sundance Online Film Festival has been announced, for January 2004.
In the words of the organisers, it is designed to 'showcase the most innovative and creative storytellers using new digital technology'. And they are inviting budding digital directors out there to submit works for consideration.
It is open to films that have been produced for exhibition across the Internet.
There are four competitive categories: Animation, Short Subject, New Forms, and Gallery. The deadline for entries is 12 September. The fee is $25 for a submission.
A phrase that comes to mind is 'Lets make the show on a PowerBook right here'. In the past, entrants have been restricted to the Microsoft Windows Media Player format. This year, however, submissions can be shot or created in 'any format (Flash, film, analog/digital video, animation, etc.)'.
More details can be found at the Sundance website.
