A concern over faulty modems has lead to Sony recalling 18,000 Vaio laptops worldwide. The models involved are reported to be the Vaio FRV25 and FRV27.
No machines affected were sold in the UK, however. A Sony spokesperson confirmed to us that local distribution channels had checked their status and had given the all clear. Across mainland Europe approximately 2,000 models have been recalled.
The spokesperson also emphasised that no injuries had been received by the users affected. Potentially, the flawed modems could generate a small electric shock.
