Broadband dates, speed test results 12:01PM, Friday 6th June 2003

BT has named the latest batch of exchanges that will get ADSL broadband upgrades later this year.

The 15 exchanges and dates are as follows:

• 1 August: Battle.

• 13 August: Fullwood, Linlithgow, Longton and Midhurst.

• 20th August 2003: Alnwick, Chipping Norton, Cowbridge, Maghull, Selsey and Westerham.

• 10th September 2003: Shildon.

• 8th October 2003: Aston Clinton, Blundeston and Bleadon.

If you live within range of one of the exchanges listed you may well be interested in the results of ADSLguide's latest broadband speed survey.

Eclipse Internet held on to the top spot it took from second-placed Nildram last month, with the usual suspects making up a large part of the top ten - Virgin, Zen Internet, PlusNet, Pipex, Freedom2Surf, Demo and BT Broadband. Somewhat surprisingly, given the recent upward trend, speed overall declined last month, though we will have to wait to see whether this is an alarming development or a temporary blip.
