Open-source office suite developer Openoffice.org has released beta 2 of the software, incorporating bug fixes and Windows compatibility improvements.
Among the improvements over the previous beta, Openoffice highlights GUI support for XSLT-based filters; enhanced OLE editing support on Windows; support for printer-independent layout; improvements to PDF export and a raft of bug-fixes.
The complete list of features is available at the Openoffice Web site.
Over and above the intra-beta improvements, version 1.1 has support for flat XML and XHTML docs and PDA office files, as well as a wider range of languages, including the vertically written, such as Thai, Hindi, Arabic and Hebrew.
The suite itself can be downloaded from Openoffice.org.
