Adaptec has launched a range of wireless products to get you networking out of the box.

The five products comprise a Cable or DSL Router, for ï99.99 inc VAT, which includes a fully integrated wireless access point, router and four-port switch - everything you need to network a broadband connection.

The Access Point Kit (ï94.99 inc VAT) is a wireless hub, providing an interface to an existing wired network. It is equipped with a high-range antenna and 64/128-bit encryption, MAC address filtering and password protection to provide high levels of security.

There is also a PC Card Kit (ï44.99 inc VAT), giving wireless access for notebooks, and a USB Kit (ï54.99 inc VAT) giving wireless access to PCs and notebooks.

The products all use standard 802.11b technology, offering rates of 11Mbits/sec (theoretically). Aimed at consumers, the products will be available through high street retail stores and major online retailers. They are also supplied with user-friendly software to make it easy for consumers to get up and running.

'Adaptec UltraWireless solutions make home networking simple, with wizards that guide users through a quick installation process, plug-and-play components, and informative and user-friendly product guides,' said Jeff Loebbaka, VP of Adaptec's Desktop Storage Group.
