You can now apply for tickets online for the forthcoming Euro 2004, the football championship hosted by Portugal.

The site in question is www.euro2004.com.

Ticket prices start at ï35 - there are three price categories at each stadium - and the organisers say 450,000 will be on sale. It is possible to apply for up to four tickets for any match, and it is possible to apply for a ticket for an individual match without having to buy a series of tickets.

The organisers have taken two approaches to ticketing, and applications can be made online. You can follow the 'tourist' route and apply for tickets in a particular location, irrespective of which teams may eventually be played there. Or you can apply for 'Follow My Team' tickets, which gives access to all group matches and knockout games (all the way to the final) for a particular team wherever they play, should they qualify in the first place.

The high-flying Welsh can definitely start applying now.

Applications can be made until 16 June. After this period there will be a draw for those matches that are oversubscribed.

You can read the full ticketing information here.

The championship runs from 12 June to 4 July, with the final being held in Lisbon.
