Toshiba has announced a smaller and more power efficient Bluetooth card that adds the wireless networking standard to devices with an SD slot.
Toshiba claims its Bluetooth 2 card offers a 50 per cent reduction in power consumption, a flat profile and is 9mm smaller in size.
It supports the latest Bluetooth standard and will be available in May for £67 ex VAT (about £78 inc VAT).
'The new SD Bluetooth Card 2 brings Bluetooth to the masses, with a smaller form factor, affordable price and compatibility with Toshiba Pocket PCs and the vast majority of our notebooks that feature an integrated SD slot,' said Jonathan Ferman, Business Manager, Toshiba EMEA. By this, read compatible with Windows products only.
Bluetooth is seeing something of a renaissance right now. TDK reported that its Bluetooth accessories in Carphonewarehouse stores showed a 25 per cent increase in sales every quarter for the past year. Carphonewarehouse is aware of value of the accessories market with its latest television adverts championing the benefits of revamping an ageing handset with a wireless camera.
