Nvidia has introduced its first integrated chipset, the nForce3 Professional (nForce3 Pro), for workstations based on the newly-launched Opteron processors from AMD.
Adopting Nvidiaïâs Quadro workstation graphics solutions, the new nForce3 Pro supports AGP 8x graphics technology, Nvidiaïâs Enterprise-Class Networking standard and USB 2.0. Other features of the nForce3 Pro include support for RAID and AMDïâs HyperTransport technology, which offers a data transmission speed of 3.6GB/s.
All nForce3 Pro-based systems and motherboards use the Nvidia Unified Driver Architecture (UDA), the chip designer said, which provides simplified deployment and upgrades in the enterprise environment.
The nForce3 Pro-based motherboards are currently sampling to workstation system integrators worldwide, Nvidia said, with systems scheduled to be available in the summer of 2003.
