Red Hat offers testing ground

Red Hat has announced its 'Red hat Ready' application testing programme, allowing ISVs to certify the compatibility of their products with the Linux distribution.

The programme will assure potential customers of both Red Hat Linux and ISVs (independent software vendors) that the applications will be stable and reliable on Red Hat, having gone through what Red Hat describes as 'rigorous testing on the latest versions of Red Hat Linux'.

Red Hat Ready will certify applications for all of Red Hat's Enterprise products, including the recently announced Enterprise ES and WS.

Mark de Visser, VP of marketing at Red Hat, said: 'We are witnessing tremendous demand from software vendors that want to certify their products for Red Hat Enterprise Linux. Recent research by Evans Data discovered 59 per cent of all developers plan to write Linux applications in the next year. The Red Hat Ready programme has been created to address this demand.'

The initiative dovetails with Oracle's Unbreakable Linux drive that provides funds and resources for marketing, sales, development and support to partners developing products based on the 'Unbreakable Linux' environment. Unbreakable Linux also covers the UnitedLinux enterprise platform.
