Graphics chip designer Nvidia has announced that its GeForce FX and Quadro FX processors are compatible with the new version 9.0 of Microsoft's games driver DirectX.

By using DirectX 9.0 and the companion HLSL (High Level Shader Language), game developers will be able to provide a high-impact, visually stunning experience for all consumers. The company also says that Nvidia and Microsoft are working on the development of real-time photorealistic and `cinematic` effects on the Windows-based PCs.
