The EasyShare DX6340 will cost £249 inc VAT and Kodak claims the new technology 'allows focus lock in almost total darkness'. This is achieved using an external sensor that measures contrast and another TTL (through the lens) sensor that can quickly define the subject of the shot.
The high-speed focussing also extends the range at which subjects can be photographed using flash. Kodak claims this extends the usable range of the flash to 6m.
The camera is fitted with a Schneider-Kreuznach Variogon lens offering 4x optical zoom and a 3.1megapixel CCD sensor. Kodak also claims an improved digital zoom of 3.5x.
On board image management is possible via the 1.8in TFT screen, and a range of automated scene modes, such as sport, night and landscape optimise the settings for those situations. The camera also hands over the controls to the user so you can adjust aperture and shutter priority modes manually.
