Nvidia releases two new workstation-use chips, the Quadro FX 1000 and 2000, aimed at the professional market.

Graphics chip designer Nvidia has released two new workstation-use chips, the Quadro FX 1000 and 2000, aimed at the professional market.

Designed with 128-bit floating point and eight-pipeline architectures, the two chips also support AGP 8x graphics technology. They feature three parallel vertex engines with an on-chip vertex cache and a high-speed DDRII memory interface. Nvidia claims five times faster line performance than the company's previous generation products.

There is a combination of high precision and full scene anti-aliasing (FSAA), with support for resolutions up to 3840×2400-pixel QUXGA.

Like all Quadro products, the new Quadro FX chips feature certification support for CAD, DCC and visualization applications, Nvidia said. In addition, the Quadro FX products adopt the Nvidia Unified Driver Architecture (UDA), nView multi-display and OpenGL standards.

The new Quadro FX 1000 and 2000 are currently in volume production and will be available worldwide from OEMs and channel distributors in February, according to Nvidia.
