Hot on the heels of price reductions for mobile processors, Intel releases six new processors for notebooks. It has also announced an integrated graphics chipset for its mobile processor family, the Intel 852GM chipset.

The six new processors include a new top-of the range Mobile Pentium 4, clocking 2.4GHz and priced at $562 (based on 1,000 unit quantities).

The other new releases comprise: 900 and 933MHz Ultra Low Voltage Mobile Pentium III processors (both costing $209), a 2GHz Mobile Celeron ($149), an 866MHz Low Voltage Mobile Celeron and an 800MHz Ultra Low Voltage Mobile Celeron. All the Pentiums feature 512Kb of L2 cache while the Celerons have 256Kb.

The mobile Pentium 4 processors are aimed at desktop-replacement notebooks while low voltage the Pentium III are targeted by Intel at sub-notebooks and Tablet PCs.

And there's also a new chipset for notebooks.

Intel has provided integrated graphics support for desktop systems before, but now the Intel 852GM chipset does the same for notebooks. 'Integrated support' means that the necessary graphics processing capability is provided as part of the chipset, eliminating the need for a separate graphics card. Such options provide flexibility in both pricing and form-factor for computer builders.

The Intel 852GM can be combined with either the Mobile Pentium 4 or mobile Celeron processors. The technical spec from Intel is that it supports power management (including Intel's Deep Sleep and Deeper Sleep), has a 400 MHz system bus and supports up to 1GB of DDR 200/266 system memory. It includes six integrated USB 2.0 ports.

You can read more info on the 852GM on the Intel Web site.
